i wanted to get over with this for once and for all! SKEPTICS or science ppl... choose to believe a set of certain rules... yes SOME were proven and some are still under examination... BUT all are based in BELIEF of certain axioms! BELIEVERS ppl who choose to believe whatever they want... whatever suits thier needs... whatever seems "believable" to them ppl who CHOOSE not to use logic, or use a different kind of logic... after all logic is probably not the way to understand everything and it was never proven logic is the right way to examine the world around us Bottom-Line both "believers" & "skeptics" CHOOSE to believe in certain things... all comments and/or complaints are welcome ;D

Neither side can be defined so simply:) I am a skeptical believer. The way i see things is: Never rule anything out until you have conclusive evidence either way. Always keep an open and inquisitive mind, one which you can use to search for the aforementioned evidence. If something is conclusively proved either way then I can choose to "Believe".

I agree with Bennu's view on things. Belief is a fine base to work from but it needs evidence of some sort to support that belief. I always try to look for a mundane answer before saying I believe in anything.
I am open to new ideas I just like to have evidence before I say that I believe them. Like wise I don't discount evidence because it "cannot be explained by science".

I like to call that..........
The gray area.
That's where I always stay. Personally, I think true believers and true skeptics are annoying because they don't listen to the other side of the story. They may say they do but they don't.

That is the true danger of belief. It can blind you to anything other than your chosen view.

Perhaps skeptics had a bad event in their life which had turned them from the 'gray area' to needing firm evidence, which can go the same for the believers. But honestly, it all depends on how a person wishes to see how skeptics and believers became who they are.
I, as one..am both.. for certain things...such an event or a moment in someone's life..I would believe it right off the bat..such as an opinion, theory or thought about something or someone.. I would need evidence to prove it in order for me to believe that the person saying what they think is right or not.. otherwise, it would only be gossip, rumours or something they just thought up... For me, it takes alot of things to get me to give an opinion firmly... but again, it all depends on what the situation and topic is about aswell..

about the pain thing... well skeptics do seem angry sometimes... and yeah they sometimes get pissed at believers but believers do the same

[glow=blue,2,300]That is quite true! We do the same to others that happens to us...or they do, anyway![/glow]

I think that they are angry at each other because neither side believes that they are being treated seriously or even listened too.
If both sides were a little more open minded to the possiblities out there then there would be less anger in the discussions. Both sides should be willing to entertain the slightest possiblity that they may be wrong.
Instead they tend to take such possiblities as a threat against themselves personally. That anything that stands against there personal beliefs is wrong and shouldnt be listened to. Both are a form of being closed minded.

I don't think skeptics are angry at all. All they do is ask for some proof and believers get all offended by it because the skeptics are on the other side. I think believers are just easily offended. Skeptics can be that way sometimes, too.
