Yay I get the first topic of the ghost forum.
For starters, a ghost is any kind of apparation or energy that is supernatural. There are many terms that can be used instead of ghosts: phantoms, spirits, apparations, specters, ectoplasm, poltergeists, etc.
Most of the names explain themselves. Ectoplasm is the myst like stuff you usually see in dark places, like graveyards or sometimes in run down houses. Poltergeists are usually invisible ghosts that are in a sense "playful." They like to make objects float around or slam doors. Some poltergeists have even been known to attack people every once in awhile but it is less common.

Oops. How could I forget orbs?? Orbs are kind of related to ectoplasm I guess. But orbs or more of a light than a mist.

Solid ghosts? What do you mean? Ghosts that have a form that you can see?

Well, what if some one really huged with a dead rellative? someone that is dead and then hug him?! it happens... some people see a loved one after he/she died and had physical contact...
If i browse my brain, its called Crystalisation ( From pure life energy to a solid form ) Btw, very interesting concept... if you can Cristalise you can travel through all dimentions and take a solid form anywhere... well, in this dimention too, its called teleportation. But anyway, some ghost can cristalise

When a ghost wants to get 'solid' it uses ectoplasm to 'shape' itself.

Yeah, it used ectoplasm to show itself. But when people make physical contact...... I have no idea. I assume they use energy around them to give themself a kind of physical body. I guess it would kind of be like a force field of energy that makes it feel like the ghost has a physical form.

Yeah but do not forget that air is also physical. What I mean is that ghosts can be physical at different levels. As thin as air, or as steady as a human body. And I guess you can feel both.

Good point. The physical form I meant was a solid feel. I would assume they would use some sort of energy field. I don't know any other way they could make the illusion that they have a solid form.

The ectoplasm would be there so you could see the ghost, and the energy feel so you can feel or touch the ghost.

Yeah, but with my experiences it's not a physical feeling. It's more of a mental feeling, like feeling scared or being cold. But I don't know, I guess it's possible but I've never seen it happen.
