The legend of the pied piper my have some fact behind it. According to this book in 1284 in the town of hamelin in Lower saxony germnay. the legend continues as you all know. however histories belive that this "legend" has astonishing truth. For example in the story the children are led down a street called Bungelosen Street. This very same street is in the factual town of hamil and all music is forbiden to be played on it. It also bears a ensctiprion telling of the pied piper. In 1982 Maurice Shadbolt visited the home of Retired school teacher Hans Dobbertin. He belives that the children of hamlin were taken in order to colinize land to the east. This was very important around the time this myth takes place. This school teacher also belives that he can put a name to the pied piper. Count Nicholas von Speilgelberg. This man was a german colinizer and most likey wanted the children to colinize. These men also belive that the children are acctually disaffacted tenagers that were eager for a new start. He also belive that they eventually headed out onto a ship from the now polish port city of Kopahn. The hill they are contained with in the story is koppen a hill outside of hamlin. Spiegberg was last seen on july 8 at the baltic port of Stettin. several days jorney from hamlin. This was also a port usualy taken by german colinizors. The two tone suit the piper wears is even similar to the type of cloths a germna noble man would wear. Further proof is the illustration in the origonal story which protray the children being led to a land of riches in the east beyond koppen.
