I saw this show on Discovery last night, and there was this woman who wanted to have her legs amputated to her upper legs... another dude wanted only his foot amputated.. There was totally nothing wrong with the legs/feet, those persons just had to amputate it cuz the bodyparts drove them crazy..
This is generally known as a form of 'body dismorphia', what most people only know from anorexia or boulimia.
If you ask me, those people really need therapy. There are a lot of people who dó want to have (healthy) legs but dónt have em..

man this "body dismorphia" things are really hard to cure...and the thing is even if they get the body part amputated the brain still functions like they still have all their body parts in place... that can drive them even crazier....i remember a man that lived close to my old house where i lived and he got his leg amputated and after that he was always talking that his foot itches when he actually had no foot...and then his wife sent him to therapy and after 3-4 years he was ok...(with a leg missing)

well i dont know about that....but it woudn't be called suicide...they would just die from body dismorphia...cuz a lot of people die from anorexia or boulimia and they die from starvation (not because they dont have enough food just cuz they won't eat) but its still not called suicide..they're just sick...

People who are anorexic or bulemic DO need counseling, it's almost like a phobia and you can get rid of it through a psychiatrist. Same thing goes with the people who don't like their body parts, with a little counseling they'd be fine.
