well...
a few days ago a watched this really good show about alien abductions
on the science channel
at first i thought its a believer show...
it described in depth the believers and hipnotic sessions to the ppl who claim to have been abducted, hipnotic sessions done by believers...
well it all seemed well and goody...
the hipnotic sessionist would ask the ppl and push them for answers to his questions
and they would usually come up with answers about the abduction
the hipno terpists were once a trained psychiatrists and once just someone who knew how to use hypnosis
both were, as stated above believers in alien abductions and believed that the patient in session has been abducted.
now i was about to close the TV (coz i thought that the skeptic side wont show, which makes the whole thing kinda pointless, scientifically and logically whise) when the skeptic side finally arrived
they brought these different psychologists and they brought up the very convincing case of suggestion.
the psychologists that actually do the sessions do hipnotic sessions where they force the patient to come up with data considering his/hers abduction
and it has been proven that every 4th person would make the whole thing up... would uncontously make it up from his/hers imagination when being pressed hard enough...
+most of the ppl who calimed to have had those were very creative ppl who are much more vonurable to suggestion than others
+those ppl take gruop sessions... where they are encourged to believe in thier abductions...
basically its a very comfortable enviroment to grow into the belief in the "fact" that you have been abducted even if its not true.
in conclusion:
group sessions for ppl who claim to be abducted may cause them to believe they have been abducted when they have not
but that could only happen if they join
if its free for everyone to join than its a problem.......
because to avoid this thing only ppl that actually have been abducted should be treated this way but... no one has been proven to be abducted.
going to a psychologist that trys to direct you what to say is very harmful... and thats what happens here
well that just sucks
remeber lads that the only way of proving something is the scientific way
