Scientist at the 2002 Lunar Base Design Workshop have just decided to go for the moon before mars. The moon base will be a port for launching rockets, a boaster for communications, and a mine for Helium 3 including other minerals.

I think it's cool to think that we are moving to other planets (or moons). At least we will eventually get to Mars. That's kind of cool.

Why move? The humans will only do to Mars and other planets what they did to earth, as is they're destroying this wonderful planet...

yes but with hope their will also be societies on planets that will eb against that. or we will find soemthing tor eair the damage we have done. if not their is always natural cleansing. take the humans away and in abouta thousands years all renewable resources will eb back at their prime and the pollution will be cleanes away

And we all know 1000 years is a short time! Just kidding. Actually, compared to the age of the Universe it is a short time. Teej

Yes, it would be clean but that would only make us return here and do it all over again.

Ofcourse i got nothin to exploring other planets/moons.. but i thought we were talking about THE moon.. OUR moon. And i think its more important to explore Mars than the moon, bcuz Mars resembles 2nd Earth

Quickly stated, it's cheaper to build a moon base and take off from there than it is to launch a spacecraft from Earth. Since the gravity is so much stronger on Earth, it takes more fuel to reach orbit than it would on the moon. That means more fuel for the trip to mars, which means a faster trip to mars.

Yeah, and when we get to Mars it will be easier to go other places as well.
