Scientists managed to plant electrodes into a rat's brain. These electrodes are connected to a device the rat carries on its back. With this device the scientists are able to control the rat's movement. They can send a signal to the rats brain which tells the rat to go to the left or right. This means the rats can be used as spy-cams or they can be used as rescue-rats after an earthquake.

That's comforting To think, that might be me someday. It's pretty scary, we can't even let things use their own brains anymore. Teej

Yeah. I heard they did that with cockroaches to test something with earthquakes. If it's for the good of the entire world, then I guess it's ok to do it. But pretty soon we are gonna be trying to control everything. That's not a good idea.

Why is it cruel? They treat the rats proper, and they'll be awarded when they do something good. They stimulate the rat's pleasure-center when it walked the right way. Im an animal lover too, but sometimes these science things overrule the animal-thing...

I'm just worried about if they ever try to use it on humans. Teej

Yeah. But if the world has any common sense at all they won't. But let's not hold our breathe Teej

[glow=purple,2,300] hhmmm....common sense...that sounds familiar...
well I think it's cruel b/c the rat didn't consent to it and ya ok it's getting rewarded but I'm sure it's still terrified...yes, it gets a reward when it goes the right way but happens to it when it tries to got he wrong way?
yes, I admit it's good for the sake of sciences but we have robots that can do that work...robots that don't have emotions...or lives that can be lost when what it's spying on rips off it's limbs one by one...
it's just sick...but that's my opinion...
PLUR to everyone... [/glow]

Yeah. It is sick. But what can you do? I mean, it's a good study, but it's scary to what it could lead to.

[/glow] When it goes the wrong way, the try again to send it the right way. They do not hurt the rat. Sick? I wonder if you still consider it sick when you would lie beneath rubble after an earthquake and you'll be rescued by a rat because of this technology...

They do have benefits, that's for sure. As long as they don't hurt whatever they use it for it's fine by me. Just as long as they don't keep total control of it for ever. That would just plain suck.

They DO NOT control the rat's MIND they control the rat's MOVEMENTS.
