This one has been happening more and more lately.
About once every week I'll have a hard time falling asleep. Actually, I usually have a hard time falling asleep but about once a week I have a really hard time. Almost every time I'm just starting to doze off when I hear something that sounds like foot steps walking around. I can't tell if they are in the room or if they are somewhere else, but I know that it sounds like they are barefoot. Soon after that happens, I hear the sound of heavy breathing somewhere across the room. It sounds kind of like someone who has a cold or something and can't breathe right. I know it can't be my imagination because I am perfectly calm, and I know that I'm hearing this. The breathing part could be explained because I live with four cats, but I always turn on the light and there is nothing else in the room with me. The only other person that every stays here is an occasional friend and they always sleep on the couch or somewhere else. It's got me kind of confused.
