Zenon that old greek phylosopher guy... thought up some pretty nifty ideas 1. Achiles VS Fred well achiles was considered a very fast dude and a turtle is considered slow... so lets say achiles and a turtle named fred had a race and lets say good ol' achiles gave fred a head start of 10 meters... ok now in order to pass fred achiles needs to reach him first the problem is that every time he'll reach fred, fred will move just a lil more.. than achiles will have to catch up with him again but while he is catching up fred is making more progress so each time achiles almost reaches him fred moves forward again making a tiny but existing distance between him and achiles therefore logically achiles will never reach fred.......................................... think about it for a while it'll get to ya
2.Movement in order to reach point B from point A u first need to get to the middle of section AB called C.. in order to reach point C u hafta first reach the middle of AC which is D in order to reach D u hafta reach the middle of AD which is point X... u can never start going coz u cant start there is no smallest number in order to start moving u need to start somewhere if AB=1 AC=1/2 AD=1/4 AX=1/8 and so on u cant reach the first point coz u first have to reach its middle... think about it for a while and it'll get to ya too
now after thinking about it for a while... ARENT THOSE SOME ASS KICKING PARADOXES!?

Yeah thats the same like when y=x/2 then it'll never reach zero.

yeah but the thing is that logically we should'nt be able to move...

But they are moving at different rates. So if the fast guy is running really fast and the slow guy is running really slow it doesn't matter if the slow guy is moving. The fast guy will catch up to him and keep running, so he will pass him.

yes but he first has to reach him and every time he does Fred moves a lil' more... so he cant really reach him logically that is...

Oh, so you mean they aren't running a race, he is just trying to catch up to the guy??

before achiles passes fred he must first reach him
and they are racing

yeah but the thing is that logically we should'nt be able to move... Therefor its a paradox.

Alright, but when he catches him, he will just keep on moving even once he is past him, so he will pass him up. It's hard to explain these things without pen and paper.

yeah but thats it... he wont catch up to him each time he tries fred will go just a lil bit further away

Are they moving at the same rate, or different rates though??

even if achiles moves 35 times faster it wont matter... ok achi needs to pass fred right? so his first objective would be to reach him right? with me so far? goody so lets say he does... now the milisecond achi reaches fred fred will move just a lil further away right? right so now achi will have to catch up with that and when he does fred will again move a lil further...
dont think of them moving in steps... think about it as flowing motion think they're flying

I'm with you and I understand where you are coming from. But in races people pass eachother all the time. So are you saying in theory he can't catch him, or that it is impossible for him to catch him?
