In Sterkfontein, South Africa, is a form of an Australopithecus (called STW341, no other name yet.) found which strongly changes the way humans evolved.
STW431 had a large human-like head with an ape-like body, the opposite to Lucy. Lucy had an, as ye guess, ape-like head with humanoid body. This strongly suggest humans didnt evolve in a straight line, but in two (known) ways. One line from Lucy, the other from STW431.

the titanthrope theory is the theory that most of the skeletons we find are other types of humans that died out along the evolutionary line. the core was the discovery of the titanthrope skeleton i belive which was a gigantic 9 foot tall humanoid which was very monkey like but bore no resemblences what soever to human evolutionary line established. it was then though to have been an offbreed of humantiyt that died out
