personally I like a short sword...I find them easier to handle seeing as I'm such a small person  well I don't much like knives or swords or daggers if I'm not the one holding them...I'm even iffy on them if it's someone I really trust that's holding it..bad experience for the badass days...well several bad experiences actually...but I won't get into that... well I actually ADORE swords/daggers/knives as long as they aren't pointed at me or on display and I BEYOND ADORE them when I am holding them... well PLUR  |

I have voted for the ethnic swords, although to be more accurate the Japanese swords.
In my view there is no other weapon that comes close to the sheer elegance of a sword of the Samurai.
I own a Katana and a Wakizashi and refuse to do anything to dishonour the blade. This includes not drawing the blade without the express purpose of drawing blood.
I have yet to draw them since they were presented to me by my future sword master. Nor do I have any intention to until I know how to use them properly.

I have trained with many weapons in many styles, and overall have a preference for japanese blade sets.
A well made Hanwei blade significantly outclasses other weaponry in strength, and ease of use. With such loving care, time and skill going into the forging of such blades, you can truly feel the difference.
But as any true warrior knows, a weapon is only as good as the wielder.
Be safe with your weapon of choice!

I choose aswell, as the Katana.. I believe I could be able to handle it as it would handle me. I think I may be able to become one with the blade, sword and handle. In order to function properly, you must know the blade as it knows you... so that is one of my beliefs.
